Kurz gesagt

In short
Dropbite has no server of its own, no user account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. As the developer I have no access to your entries. Data only leaves your device in the cases below, and only to where you send it.
Your entries and Apple Health
What you log is stored on your device and synced to your other devices through iCloud, and Apple's privacy policy applies. With your permission, Dropbite writes calories, nutrients, caffeine and water to Apple Health. If you allow it, Dropbite also reads your active and resting energy to compare it with the calories you ate in the app. These values stay on your device. Dropbite never shares health data with third parties, including for advertising.
Product lookup at Open Food Facts
When you scan a barcode or search by name, the app sends the barcode or search term to Open Food Facts. No information about you is sent beyond the technically required connection. Product photos are also loaded from Open Food Facts, and a small preview is stored with the entry. If you add an Open Food Facts account in Settings and tap “Send to Open Food Facts”, the app sends the product name, barcode and nutrition values with your account. This data becomes public there.
Nutrition tables, reminders and export
When you photograph a nutrition table, Dropbite reads the text right on your device; the photo is not sent anywhere. Drink reminders and the weekly recap are notifications your device schedules itself. The CSV export creates a file on your device that you share yourself.
AI estimates
If you have an AI estimate a product, your description, the barcode and any photo you chose are sent directly to the provider you picked in Settings. That can be a cloud service such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Mistral, xAI, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Groq or OpenRouter, using your own API key; its privacy policy and the terms of your account apply. It can also be a server on your own network such as Ollama or LM Studio, in which case the data does not leave your network. Without a provider set up, nothing is sent.
Keys and credentials
API keys and your Open Food Facts password are stored in the iCloud Keychain of your Apple account and only sent to the respective provider.
Your rights
Since I do not process any of your data, I cannot hand it out or delete it. You delete your entries in the app or, including the iCloud copy, under Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage. Values in Apple Health are deleted in the Health app. For questions, write to the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
